I've Had Several Driver's Licenses
Note: The photo on my 1996 license was actually taken in 1989, when I turned 16.

Bucket of Updates
I've sure been lazy about updating my blog, as exemplified by this half-assed entry. Here are some things I've done lately:
I don't eat out much anymore, but I did recently enjoy two really superb dinners that make me think I should do that more often:
Intimate, old-San Francisco atmosphere, superb foods and wines, and service that spoiled me. I had a little seared ahi tuna, salad, creamed spinach, little spicy beef-filled pastries, and chocolate Boston cream pie. It was super nice of Paul to take me here for my birthday, considering he's a vegetarian. He compromised with the delicately battered, melt-in-your-mouth fish and chips.
After a 14-mile hike in Big Basin, my friend Locke and I were hungry and felt we'd earned the best dinner we could find. The valet collected Locke's weathered Honda and we strolled inside in our jeans, sweaty t-shirts, and dirty shoes. Everyone inside was dressed to the nines and delicately fragranced. There was no room for us in the main restaurant, so we perched at the bar, ordered fancy cheeseburgers, and watched the sun set over the ocean. Our fries were served in paper cones on little pedestals—how very. For dessert, we shared dainty servings of cheesecake and molten chocolate cake.
I watched Lamont's sister get married, then participated in a 64-person heads-up poker tournament with my high school pal Kevin. I did poorly. Heads-up is tough: it's just you and one other card shark, staring each other down. And since I knew no one there except Kevin, I couldn't read anyone. Most folks there had been playing for a few years. With only a few months under my belt, I still have a lot to learn. I'm not at all discouraged, though: I held my own and made a good show.
Finally! Sheesh. As of the end of July, my six-and-a-half-year stint at Critical Path will be over. Almost all of my original work-pals flew the coop years ago. In fact, I've been there the second-longest of anyone. During my recent years of personal tumult, I felt compelled to cling to this twice-monthly paycheck with full benefits. It'll be interesting to figure out what to do next.
